A study in which the average breast sizes of women from various countries around the world were measured and ‘The United States’ was ranked second and World Population Review published the survey.
According to this report, “Breast size is unique to each woman and is influenced by several factors, including genetics, nutrition and diet, weight and body mass index (BMI), fitness level and age.” the report authors further explain that the average cup size for women around the world varies between AA and C. In contrast, daily cup size at AA is prevalent on average across countries.
The researchers noted that BMI is closely linked to size; that is, the higher the BMI, the bigger the breast size, and vice versa.
However, with an average BMI of 26.2, which is lower than most countries, Norway stood out by being higher ranked out of all the countries. Having a BMI that is lower than average allowed the Scandinavian country to excel while being ranked third. On average, Scandinavian women wore between C and D cups.

The US was second with a BMI of 29 and cup C, and the UK with a BMI of 27.1 and cup size C.
Greenland came in last in terms of having the lowest average bra size, but the Research team estimated the country had a cup size of A with a BMI of 26.7. Moreover, the same team justified the BMI score by saying the weight-to-height ratio classification meant anything greater than a score of 25 and still lower than 30 could still be classed as overweight. On the flip side, if that score were to exceed 30, that can easily be classified as obesity, according to the CDC.
In the words of World Data Researchers From last year’s insights it goes on to show rest of the Western countries, Norway, Iceland and the US, were still the UK’s biggest breast sizes; trying to explain the graph even further, we were told to note that obesity tends to be a problem in most of these countries: “Overall, it is striking that increased breast sizes often occur in countries where obesity is also a problem.”
The breast’s overall mass is largely composed of fats and glands; assuming fat content and connective tissue are both also partially dependent on genetic factors, the shape of the breast will greatly be impacted by those biological and physiological influencers.
In the brief research paper, researchers explained how the measurements work for bra sizes, which includes determining the underbust size and the fuller part of the breast, that is, the one and the letter, respectively. A wider gap between the two measuring points results in the matching cup size being larger, were the lead researcher’s words. “The greater the difference between these measurements, the larger the cup size,”
“It has to be noted that not all the dimensions within a single cup will agree owing to a graph representation of contour. Specifically, 32C is far less volumetric than a 42C, owing to the wide disparity between breast band and fuller breast size.”
