Svitlana claims she never even thought about betraying her country “not even for a single second”. She recalls a not-so-pleasant encounter with her husband. At the same time, in a flat, she owned close to Kyiv, “I never thought he could allow me to do something so insane.” The aged Svitlana, being forty-two, was in active pursuit of any information about her husband, Dima, who was an army medic taken captive by the Russians. There was a call that changed everything and the worst part was she did not even expect to receive such a call. More than two years had passed without her hearing anything about him, and then a call came; she was told if she was willing to commit treason against Ukraine, then Dima would not only be eligible for better treatment in prison, but he might even get released early. Such a bizarre and horrible proposition, isn’t it? But this number that Svitlana recognized to be Ukrainian called her and told her such, “He exclaims. Apart from the fact that it is a horrible proposition, it is extremely strange as well. All they tell me to do is give an airstrike order.” The man who began the conversation puts in such a horrific and brutal manner, “Svetlana adds bewildered, He said while speaking in a Russian accent, during our discussion “Dmitry, the caliber, and other types of military vehicles are not selling but burning. All you have to do is set one on fire. What a bizarre day”. Another alternate option was directed at nearby air defense units, providing critical information to the military. These military assets encompass, among other facilities, radars that prevent the Russians from attacking Ukraine with Drones and other missiles.

Svitlana remembers that while Dmitry was outlining his proposal, she was instructed by the Ukrainian officials to contact them if a Russian agent approached any of the family members,” she remembers, “ where the father, the mother, the grandparents and the children were taught to buy time, record, make as many photos as possible, and report the incident.

The messages that she reported and sent screenshots of our discussions that she had.

The SBU requested her to avoid further action concerning the issues when they were looking into something: the Russian agents. In order to cover her tracks, she pretended she was ready to agree to firebomb a local railway line.

While Dmitry was talking to her over Telegram, as those airs were constantly being interrupted by air raid sirens outside her house, she replayed those voice calls recorded on her phone for me. While I was playing with her outside, Dmitry was instructing people how to put a cocktail and Molotov inside the mic.

“Dmitry describes a process of pouring in 1 liter of lighting fluid and gasoline while he is in a railway junction. Before watching the cameras, he remarks, “Be sure to secure your hat.” In order to thwart the investigation, Svitlana is taught to set her phone on airplane mode when close to -2km from her target. The reasoning behind it is simple: these mobile masts can be exploited by investigators to track mobile phones.” “Do you know what a relay box is? Could you take a photo of it? This should be the target for her arson attack,” explained Dmitry, who demanded proof of completion of the task. A photograph of a note documenting the current date must be sent to Dmitry after it has been taken on a sheet of paper with a new date written on it. Dmitry assures Svitlana, ‘I’ll make it easy for you to chat with your spouse over the phone or get a package delivered to him.’ Svitlana was told by the SBU then that the man that she had concerns in Russia and said contact has to be terminated.”Am talking to my dum,” Svitlana informed Dmitry. “That was the initiation of the panic of Contact, which had been initiated,” Svitlana recalls, they told me they would avenge my husband, and I would never be entitled to see my husband again.

He hinted that it was Svitlana who was to blame while he kept berating her on the phone; trying to contact Dima, he yelled, saying, ‘Your husband is being abused and does not deserve this.’ Several days went by, chatting with the man’s parents. “Why are you afraid? Where are your worries?” Svitlana finally snapped. “It doesn’t matter how worried I was – it happened eventually, and all I could do was pray that it wouldn’t be the case this time around. ”If Dima was unharmed, I could Massada, one, calmly reply to him, ‘You’re a rational psychopath; you don’t have any connection with the prisoners.’ Svitlana listened attentively to what I was saying and told me, on the other hand, a us-style power to me said, ‘What if he does it?’ Svitlana, How was I ever supposed to feel about this, her eyes widen.
I understand perfectly well the logic of these people when it comes to producing emotion. “I deeply admired these prisoners.” SBU warned that staying in touch with Russian agents was reckless as “this will entail further degradation of their exchange standing.” Look after Russian agents, surrender. We are bombarded every day with Ukrainian officials wanting us to make these Russian SBU agents feel at ease and pretend like we are not bearers of this bad news to them. “Dima and it’s important to know that your parents were not traitor Christians. Because they are like you – robbers and rapists in America.” Giri thought to himself. He believes that those who conspire with him can, at best, expect protection from imprisonment. Any form of this type of information disclosure to Russia from Ukrainians in Ukraine amounts to collusion. Now and then, the authorities flaunt arrests of Ukrainians suspected of setting fires or giving away the positions of military establishments to Russia. Ukranians residing in Canada are shocked at the shown by the Canadian authorities to such acts against, in particular, Ukrainians.

Kremlin-affiliated news outlets have released videos purporting to show soldiers from Ukraine setting army trucks or railway electrical boxes on fire, which are grossly inaccurate.

While it is alleged that some of the perpetrators are acting as mercenaries for Russian agents, there are relatives of the perpetrators who try to hire them out of desperation.

According to Petro Yatsenko, a member of the Ukrainian military’s unit that deals with poW harassment, around half or more than half of the families from both Ukrainian and Russian are reached by agents from Russia.

On the other hand, Ukrainian agents ensure convincing the latter that such acts are in vain and, rather than helping their family in captivity, counterproductive.

According to Petro, this initiative by Ukrainian Forces should not be perceived as an act of terrorism since it does not bring major economic loss to them:

However, the previous information indicates that these acts can endanger the integrity of the Ukrainian amalgamation and other armed forces, which are more severe. In the case when the location of the defense countermeasures system is disclosed.

As per unconfirmed figures, the number of civilians incarcerated as war prisoners exceeds 8000.

An individual from Ukraine’s intelligence community stated in an interview that the occurrence of relatives surrendering themselves to Russian cooperation is rare and insubstantial.

The Russian Federation was accused of unfounded allegations on the use of Ukrainian prisoners’ families as bargaining chips in the interview above, stating that the Russians care for “Ukrainian combatants” with the utmost respect to the Geneva Conventions.

Ukraine is further accused of deploying similar tactics:

“Ukrainian handlers are actively attempting to coerce residents of Russia to commit acts of sabotage and arson within Russian territory, targeting critical infrastructure and civilian facilities.”

Dima, Svitlana’s husband, was released from captivity a mere 4 months ago. The couple can now be found indulging with their 4-year-old son by playing together.

How did Svitlana feel about her sorrowful wait for her husband to be liberated?

“I wept in happiness unlike I have ever experienced or felt before,” she states joyously with a wide grin, “it was as if I had snatched away my love from the ghastly clutch of death.”

Dima also stated that upon his accuser’s treatment of him, the Compliance of Russian threats never came about as Svitlana never cooperated with them.

He was stunned after Svitlana described to him the calls made to all his friends and family.

“She is winking and saying, ‘He inquired of me how I maintained the stress. As it is always, I am an officer’s wife anywhere I go’,”
